ABOUT US

Instinct [maker] provides behavioral intelligence solutions

- to allow new interaction experiences in virtual simulations,
video games, serious games and robotics

- to speed up behavior programming of non player characters,
bots and supervising agents

OUR TEAM

Skills

As behavioral simulation and artificial life specialists, our team members
are experts in programming efficient behaviors with understandable
models and automatic learning tools with life-inspired techniques.

INSTINCT BEHAVIOR ENGINE : IBE

Embed a realistic decision making architecture providing credible and adaptive behaviors.
It makes the links between what a creature perceives and what it should do.

Data extraction
IBE extracts the raw perceptions from the surrounding world and interprets the situation
thanks to virtual perceptive sensors (e.g. hearing, viewing) and cognitive sensors (e.g. dangerous area).

Priority processing
Each creature or agent decides what to do based on its perceptions, its own motivations,
its behaviors, and the scenario.

Decision making
The decision is carried out by unfolding the successive behavior blocks,
and the corresponding actions are carried out by the controller of the creature.

AUTOMATIC LEARNING

GIVE LEARNING ABILITIES TO YOUR CHARACTERS

- they can build their own behaviors by automatically exploring thousands of possible situations
- they can adapt online their behaviors if changes occur in the environment
- the obtained rule based models are easily understandable and translatable into finite state machines

Artificial evolution
> online learning (for adaptation) or offline learning (for behavior building)
> trial and error process
> reinforcement and artificial evolution techniques

Imitation of player behaviors
> online learning
> modelling of human tutor behaviors
> behavior teaching with player control of the character

CUSTOM ENGINE

Based on your precise needs, our team builds the virtual sensors
and the behavior blocks that best fit to your application.

- only few lines of code are needed to embed your custom IBE
- real time synchronization with your game engine
- low ressources consumption
- implementation in a plug in / external application / library / source code

You can contact one of our behavioral experts to discuss
your needs and the best way to solve them : contact

INSTINCT BEHAVIORS TOOLS : IBT

Use the IBT toolbox to feed the IBE with efficient sensors
and behavior blocks optimized for your application.

Just create, add, hold, delete and adapt the behaviors in real time with :
IM library
Choose the behaviors you need from dedicated libraries
IM manager
allocate behaviors to your characters and manage
your scenario
IM SDK
Integrate your own algorithms into IBE as behavior blocks

IM imitation
Teach appropriate behaviors to your characters
by simply demonstrating how to react
IM evolution
Let your character build their own behaviors
with a trial and error process

BEHAVIORS LIBRARIES

Our team is continuously developing new behaviors.

LIBRARIES CURRENTLY BEING PROCESSED :
- FPS library : bots into a capture the flag scenario
- Urban simulation library : pedestrians and vehicules
- Train/tramway station library : normal and dangerous behaviors
- House simulation : household appliance use
- MMORPG library : non player characters
- Learning behaviors : automatic adaptation to a user

YOUR BENEFITS

PUT YOUR PLAYERS IN A MORE REALISTIC WORLD

- situation understanding
- Environment adaptation
- Player interaction
- Autonomous decision making
- Dynamic behavior attribution

KEEP CONTROLLING THE DECISIONS

- Behaviors scripting
- readable and tunable models

DO NOT WASTE TIME IN SCRIPTING YOUR CHARACTERS

- efficient decision making architecture
- automatic behavior learning
- progressive collection of behaviors
- behaviors libraries
